Fire Suppression

Clean Agents*

Introduced as Halon alternatives, clean agent fire suppressants, when discharged, absorb a fire's heat energy, and form free radicals that chemically interfere with the combustion process to extinguish fires in ten seconds or less.

Clean agent gases...

  • Are electronically non-conductive
  • Are colorless and odorless
  • Leave no post-fire residue
  • Reduce smoke and soot damage
  • Are Safe for people
  • Are Safe for the Environment: have ZERO ozone depletion potential, and low global warming potential
  • Provide three-dimensional suppression

...are perfect for total flooding applications designed to protect high-valued assets in occupied and unoccupied spaces, and minimize downtime.

Halocarbon Gases

ECARO-25 is the most cost-effective clean agent fire suppressant and engined system in the market place. Fike's ECARO-25 system allows for the utilization of small diameter piping over long distances, and requires 20% less agent per ft3/m3 than FM-200 systems and 38% less clean agent per ft3/m3 than Novec 1230 systems.1 ECARO-25 is manufactured by DuPont as FE-25.

FM-200 is a widely used clean agent fire suppressant and the original Halon replacement. FM-200 is manufactured by DuPont as FE-227.

Fluorinated Ketone

Novec 1230 Fire Protection Fluid is considered the most environmentally friendly clean agent with a GWP of just one (1) and an atmospheric life of just five (5) days. Novec 1230 is manufactured by 3M as FK-5-1-12.

Flagship Fire, Inc. is an authorized distributer of Fike manufactured ECARO-25 and FM-200 Systems and Chemetron manufactured FM-200 and Novec 1230 Systems.

CO2

....is an effective fire suppression agent applicable to a wide range of fire hazards. Carbon Dioxide, when discharged, extinguishes the fire primarily by diluting the oxygen to a level where combustion cannot occur.

CO2 is...

  • Environmentally friendly and Cost effective: Naturally found in the atmosphere, By-product of the combustion
  • Provides three dimensional suppression
  • Leaves no residue
  • Electrically non-conductive
  • Colorless and odorless
  • Adaptive

Design concentrations of CO2 required to extinguish a fire will not support human life, therefore, Carbon Dioxide is ONLY suitable for UNOCCUPIED spaces.

Flagship Fire, Inc. is an authorized distributer of Fike manufactured High Pressure CO2 Systems and Chemetron manufactured High and Low Pressure CO2 Systems.

Micro-Environment

Micro-Environment systems were developed for the purpose of protecting small enclosures by adapting large engineered suppression technology. Pre-engineered micro systems provide an economical, all-in-one, on-board fire suppression for critical equipment, electrical/technical systems, and various types of enclosures, occupied or unoccupied.

Systems are actuated, either manually or automatically, the agent is released from the container, flows through a simple network of standard copper or black pipe and compression or threaded fittings, out of the nozzle(s) or detection tubing (a Linear Pneumatic Heat Sensor) and into the protected space, extinguishing the fire. Micro fire suppression systems require no expensive design work or flow calculations, and are easy to install.

Flagship Fire, Inc. is an authorized distributer for BSCO, Fike's Fireraser, and Firetrace pre-engineered Micro Fire Suppression Systems.

Inert Gas

The Inert gas blend IG-55, having ZERO ozone depletion potential and global warming potential, makes it the TRUE GREEN alternative.

IG-55 is comprised of a 50:50 mixture of Argon and Nitrogen. Argon and Nitrogen do not decompose into toxic or corrosive elements when exposed to a flame and due to their natural occurrence in the environment the extinguishant is readily available and affordable. Plus, when a system discharges there is no fog or residue.

Inert gases are the only clean agent gases that extinguish fires based on the principle of oxygen depletion. The system discharges the gas into the protected area decreasing the oxygen level from 21% to 12.5%. Although, the reduced oxygen levels will not sustain a combustion reaction, the levels are acceptable for human exposure over a short period of time.

Flagship Fire, Inc. is an authorized distributer of ARGONITE and ProInert, respectively Chemetron and Fike Inert Gas Systems.

Water Mist

Water Mist systems are ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY, non-toxic, cost efficient, easy to install and widely applicable. Water Mist systems extinguish fires by cooling due to droplet vaporization (heat absorption), oxygen displacement, inerting, due to water expansion to steam, cooling the fuel surface and diluting flammable vapors with water vapor, making the mixture too lean to burn.

Water is the only element that a Water Mist system has in common with an automatic sprinkler system. The design technology involved is significantly different. This risk-specific fire protection solution is a fine spray mist that offers effective protection without the deluge, damage, and residual water of traditional water-based systems.

Chemetron's Water Mist System

...is designed to extinguish fires in various hazards using a limited quantity of water, as compared to standard sprinkler systems. The water is discharged through specifically engineered nozzles that create a very fine droplet size.

Fike's Micromist System

...is a self contained, single fluid, pre-engineered water mist fire suppression alternative to many traditional fire protection methods. The Micromist system has demonstrated excellent performance in suppression of a wide range of scenarios.

Victaulic's Vortex System

...is the only HYBRID water fire suppression system. The Victaulic Vortex systems provides the best capabilities of Water Mist and Inert Gas systems by utilizing both nitrogen and water as complimentary extinguishing agents. This hybrid systems uses 96% less water than traditional sprinkler systems, 88% less water than high pressure Water Mist systems, and has 50% improved heat absorption.

Flagship Fire, Inc. is an authorized distributer of Chemetron, Fike's MicroMist , and Victaulic's Vortex , Water Mist Fire Suppression Systems.

Foam

Foam systems are used in many diverse types of applications. Examples of the wide range of applications are: warehouses, storage buildings, basements, LNG tank farms/loading facilities, flammable liquid drum storage areas, hazardous waste facilities, shipboard engine rooms, bilges and holds, roll paper warehouses, flammable packaging areas, cable tunnels, mining operations, aircraft hangers, helipads, and for wild land fire breaks.
